The Grand Blue Mile, presented by Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield, inspires healthy habits and celebrates personal achievement. Since 2010, over 50,000 participants from 47 states, six countries, and four continents have joined in this annual one-mile street run in Downtown Des Moines.
Designed for all ages and abilities, the event offers something for everyone—from competitive runners and elite athletes to recreational participants and families. The Grand Blue Mile, presented by Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield, is more than a race; it's a vibrant celebration of wellness and community, with cheering crowds, live entertainment, and a festive atmosphere.
